Stuart McLennan is a professional
building consultant specialising in Victorian and national building and
associated regulatory systems. He
has a Masters of Engineering and is a qualified building surveyor.
He has worked at state and national level on building
legislation systems and was one of the original employees of the Australian
Building Codes Board. He was
responsible for the management and development of the Building Code of
Australia 1996, Volume Two Housing Provisions, which were a significant
national reform for government technical standards.
Prior to joining the ABCB,
Stuart was employed as a legislation research officer with Victoria's Division
of Building Control (now the Building Commission). He was part of the development team responsible for the
implementation of Building Regulations and associated technical requirements
for the Victorian Government.
Stuart recently served as a member of the
Heritage Council and served on the Victorian Government Building Appeals Board
appointed by the Minister for a period of nine years. The Board is established under the Building Act1993 to
adjudicate on building disputes, building standards and issues relating to the
Act and associated building codes.
